Dhruv Sitwala secures the prestigious title at The Chembur Gymkhana’s Mumbai Ladu Samrat – Om Agrawal Open Handicap Billiards Tournament 2024.
The final started slowly, with both finalists struggling to find their rhythm in this repeat showdown to meet their target of 775 and 675 points respectively. Dhruv playing on -575 in a race to 200, had previously triumphed over Razmi in the finals of the SPG – Park Club Open Handicap Billiards Tournament in 2022. However, this time, the ONGC cueist faced a transformed and matured Razmi, who displayed exceptional billiards skills, including two 200 breaks and multiple centuries en route to the finale.
With scores nearly level in the first two hours, the National Champion and twice Asian Billiards Champion, Dhruv Sitwala, elevated his game, much to the delight of spectators both at the venue and online. He achieved a stunning 340 break, falling just 13 points short of his personal best of 352 due to a miscue on the top table. This impressive performance ultimately secured his comfortable victory, crowning him the Champion of this memorable event.
Om Agrawal’s first title was the Handicap Billiards Champion, which he won back in 1972. Though a fitting tribute to his legacy would be a snooker event in his name. Sportal will soon return with a Snooker Tournament to honor our hero and champion, Om Agrawal.
