In a nail-biting Top 8 clash at The Chembur Gymkhana presents Mumbai Ladu Samrat – Om Agrawal Open Handicap Billiards Tournament 2024, Rayaan Razmi narrowly avoided elimination, securing victory by just a single point against Abhishek Joshi.
Rayaan, the current India No. 6, began with a well-controlled 222 break, establishing a comfortable lead and keeping his seasoned opponent at bay. He then added two more century breaks, creating a substantial lead where he needed only 70 points to Joshi’s 150.
At this crucial moment, Abhishek mounted an impressive comeback, scoring a 63 break under pressure to nearly halve his deficit. With over 80 points needed against Rayaan’s 40, Joshi continued to score in the crucial 20s and 30s, eventually positioning himself just one point away from victory.
However, after a challenging cannon left him in a tough position, Joshi missed a difficult in-off. Rayaan, just 13 points shy of his 200 target, capitalized on the opportunity, sealing the game and advancing to the Top 4.
Rayaan’s semi-final clash against Siddharth Parikh was underway, and we have received word that Rayaan has triumphed with a commanding victory, advancing to the Grand Finale. He will face the winner of the Dhruv Sitwala vs. Rishabh Thakkar match.
