Siddharth Tembe showcased incredible resilience and composure, staging a remarkable comeback to defeat Marathwada’s Anurag Sharma 3-2 in a nail-biting match at the BSAM presents Malabar Hill Club State Ranking Tournament 2024.
The Pune-based cueist struggled early on as he adjusted to the new playing conditions. Anurag seized the opportunity, combining technical precision with sharp potting to dominate the opening frames. Within 45 minutes, Sharma secured a commanding 2-0 lead, leaving Siddharth with a steep challenge ahead.
However, Siddharth’s determination shone through as he began to find his rhythm. By focusing on strategic safety play and maintaining his composure, he clawed back into the match. With well-crafted breaks of 30 and 20, he leveled the score at 2-2, setting up an intense decider.
Entering the final frame, Siddharth’s confidence was palpable. Reflecting on his approach, he shared, “I never let pressure dictate my game. I trusted my preparation and stayed focused, knowing I had what it takes to close it out.” His self-belief and poise carried him through the decider, which he won with a comfortable margin, completing a thrilling turnaround.
