Junior snooker champ and current Senior Billiards No. 2, Shahyan Razmi, delivered a spectacular comeback to edge past Rishabh Thakkar in a nail-biting 3-2 victory at the BSAM presents Malabar Hill Club State Ranking Tournament 2024.
Thakkar, in scintillating form, stormed through the first two games with breaks of 77 and 79, asserting early dominance. He extended his lead in the third with a stunning 86, making it seem like the match was all but sealed. But Shahyan, the youngest of the Razmis, refused to back down.
In a sensational display of resilience, Shahyan fought back in the fourth game with a defiant 79, forcing a decider. The final game saw both players at their best—Thakkar with a break of 70 and Razmi responding with a calculated 55. However, a missed long red by Thakkar proved costly, allowing Shahyan to seize the opportunity and clinch the match.
Razmi’s unique style—a mix of snooker precision and billiards artistry—was on full display, captivating the crowd at the prestigious Malabar Hill Club. A left-handed with potting brilliance and fearless approach have solidified his reputation as one of the most exciting young talents in the game.
