The evening session of the pre quarter final clash between international invitee Rob Hall and State Veteran Arun Agrawal turned out to be a cat and mouse chase.
CCI Classic Invitational Billiards Championship 2023 now into its concluding stage, had the crowd on the edge as close matches were the highlight of the evening.
Rob Hall escaped a shock as he managed to take on Arun Agrawal where both the Cueists kept at it to take each other down.
Trying to find his momentum, Rob crafted two century breaks unlike his previous massive efforts and his opponent Arun Agrawal seemed to be in a mood to repeat his 1999 World Championship feat of chasing Geet Sethi and winning the quarter final by 1 point in a 1000 up format.
The chase continued as Rob maintained a lead of only 60 points for almost two hours. An unfortunate miss on two occasions gave Rob the chance to increase the lead by in the last 25 minutes to over a 200 points which was then countered by a 46 unfinished by Agrawal only to allow his worthy opponent in Rob to win by 176 points 689-513.
The competition is getting tougher, the players and the spectators are feeling the heat here at Sir Wilson Jones Billiard Room and what else can be expected in this mega event of Billiards.
