CCI Billiards Classic defending champion Siddharth Parikh did not get to the best of starts as he was shocked by young Sparsh Pherwani in his opening match here at the Sir Wilson Jones Billiards Room at the Cricket Club of India.
Sparsh, following his runner-up finish at the Senior National Snooker Championship last year, has established himself as the cream of the crop in the country, and his billiards game seems to be following suit.
Despite a century break by Siddharth, Sparsh kept the pressure on him, not giving him much breathing room and eventually seizing his opportunity as Siddharth seemed to struggle.
Despite the time format favouring the strongest players, we have seen some incredible underdog wins on the first day of the tourney itself. And isn’t that what makes the game so thrilling?
