Otter Club’s Joseph Menezes edged out Amit Sapru of Park Club in a nail-biting 4-3 decider at the MG 6 Red Open Snooker Shootout, hosted by Matunga Gymkhana and Pidilite, in association with Mumbai Ladu Samrat.
Trailing 2-3 against the formidable Sapru, Menezes showcased his potting prowess and resilience to turn the match around.
Sapru, enjoying a 3-2 lead, looked set to seal the match with a break of 17, but a costly miss on a crucial black proved to be the turning point.
Attempting to open a three-red cluster off the third black, he missed both the pot and the position, handing the momentum to Menezes, who seized the opportunity to level the match at 3-3.
The deciding frame saw Joseph in full control, and with snookers required on the final blue, Sapru conceded, marking a dramatic victory for Menezes.
With his sights now set on Round 2 against Shakir Qureshi, the battle at Matunga Gymkhana continues to intensify.
