In an electrifying opening at the BSAM Presents Malabar Hill Club State Ranking Tournament 2024, current Senior Billiards State No. 1, Mahesh Jagdale, displayed sheer dominance, overcoming Sunil Jain in a thrilling encounter.
Jagdale stormed ahead with his trademark aggressive flair, racing to an early 2-0 lead. The third game, however, brought a dramatic twist. Jain, known for his resilience, mounted a spirited comeback, edging out Jagdale in a nail-biting finish, winning by a slender margin of 10 points (150-140).
But the comeback was short-lived. Jagdale, unfazed by Sunil’s 44 break in the 4th game, regained his composure and sealed the game with cashing and small visits, clinching the match 3-1 and denying Jain any chance of forcing a decider.
Post-match, a composed Mahesh reflected, “Sunil is a formidable competitor with a wealth of experience. This match was a true test, but I’m pleased with my focus and execution under pressure.”
With this win, Jagdale bolsters his standing in a fiercely competitive group featuring three State Champions, Mahesh himself, Vishal Madan and 15 times State Champion Arun Agrawal.
