State No. 3 Hitesh Kotwani has powered his way into the Top 8 of the BSAM presents Malabar Hill Club State Ranking Tournament 2024 in the Senior Billiards category.
Despite an initial setback against Amit Sapru, where Kotwani suffered a 1-3 defeat, he made an impressive comeback with crucial victories over Anurag Bagri and Akshay Gogri.
Kotwani’s showdown with Gogri was a display of sheer brilliance, as he fired breaks of 56, 43, 80, and 55, showcasing both determination and skill. However, his most significant match was against Anurag Bagri, where the stakes were at their peak. The winner of this clash would seal a spot in the Top 8.
In a gripping 3-2 battle, Kotwani demonstrated nerves of steel, sealing the decider with a commanding 64 break. This victory not only secured his place but also propelled him to the No. 1 spot in Group 2, earning him the No. 4 seed in the Top 8 Knockouts.
As the dust settles from the group stages, the tournament now shifts gears into the knockout rounds, promising high-octane action as the best of the best go head-to-head.
