In a thrilling encounter, 7-time state champion Hasan Badami once again showcased his brilliance, defeating Nagpur’s Zubair Sheikh in the BSAM presents Malabar Hill Club State Ranking Tournament 2024.
The opening frame set the tone for the match, with Hasan taking full control through a flawless defensive display, securing an early lead.
Zubair, however, came roaring back in the second frame, delivering a powerful break of 59 to dominate with a 72-21 win and level the match at 1-1.
The third frame brought a shift in momentum. While Zubair maintained his aggressive stance, Hasan’s calculated and composed approach earned him a crucial victory to regain the upper hand.
Hasan then showcased his true class in the fourth frame, crafting a magnificent break of 70. Zubair was left with no room to respond, putting Hasan firmly in the driver’s seat with a 3-1 lead.
The fifth frame proved to be a nail-biter. Zubair started strong with a break of 40, but Hasan’s experience and composure shone through. A lucky fluke on the blue ball turned the tables, and Hasan finished with precision to seal the match.
Joining Hasan in the Top 8 are Adit Raja, Sumer Mago, and Gaurav Jaisinghani. With four more spots still up for grabs, the competition intensifies as the draw progresses.
