In yet another nail-biting clash at the BSAM presents Malabar Hill Club State Ranking Tournament 2024, Vishal Gehani staged a stunning comeback to defeat Vinay Swaminathan 3-2 in the Senior Billiards category.
The match began with Swaminathan taking control, securing a 2-0 lead and leaving Gehani on the brink of defeat. However, Gehani found his footing in the third frame with a solid 44 break, cutting the deficit to 2-1.
Momentum shifted further in the fourth game, where Gehani fired a crucial 49 break, leveling the frame score at 2-2 and setting the stage for a high-stakes decider. With rhythm on his side, Gehani sealed the match with a commanding 55 break, cruising to a spectacular 3-2 victory.
Despite his heroic efforts, Gehani’s lone victory in the Group A Round Robin wasn’t enough to secure a spot in the Top 8 knockouts. Rohan Jambusaria and Raajeev Sharma emerged as the top contenders from Group A, advancing to the next stage of the tournament.
Out of the 17 elite billiards players who battled fiercely in the group stages, the Top 8 are now set to clash in the ultimate knockout round, promising an electrifying finish to the competition.
