Aditya Shandilya caused a major upset at the BSAM presents Malabar Hill Club State Ranking Tournament 2024 by defeating the current 15 Red Snooker State Ranked No. 6, Sumit Ahuja, in a high-stakes round 2 clash of the 6 Red Snooker Championship.
Son of former World Billiards Champion Ashok Shandilya, Aditya brought both composure and consistency to the table, storming to an early 2-0 lead. But the match quickly took a twist as Ahuja mounted a determined comeback, leveling the score at 2-2.
Known for his ability to deliver big breaks, Ahuja seemed poised to take control, but Aditya countered with a decisive 33-point break in the fifth frame, reclaiming the lead at 3-2. Shandilya then surged ahead to 4-2, taking full advantage of a “snooker” situation to earn a ball-in-hand, which he capitalized on with conviction.
