Thane cueist Pratik Thakkar survived elimination in a black ball decider frame at the Matunga Gymkhana presents MG 6 Red Open Snooker Tournament.
Levelled at 1 frame each with MIG’s Gaurav Prabhu, Pratik fired a crisp tournament highest 43 to take 2-1 lead in the best of 5 duel. However Gaurav was seen coming back strongly to stretch to the decider as he outplayed Thakkar with great safety and conversions using his experience.
But the highlight of the day was the final frame as both the cueists gave their all with Prabhu leading by 23 points only to miss his opportunity to seal the match after missing a long green.
Thakkar came back strongly to clear from the green to the pink and chose to play a safety on a mispositioned black.
The final frame on the final black ball had a dramatic end as Prabhu made an unfortunate in off on the black to gift the frame and the match to Thakkar who looked relieved after the cat and mouse chase.
The thrill is bound to be increasing per match per day, so stay tuned for some thriller treatment coming from Matunga Gymkhana with #Sixmg
