DPCG’s Marzban Amroliwalla pulled off the first major upset of the Vijay Ved Memorial Open Handicap Billiards Tournament 2025, stunning former State No. 2, Hitesh Kotwani, in their Round 2 clash!
Opening with a calculated break of 50, Marzban set the tone early, defending a target of 275 against Kotwani’s 625. The match stayed neck and neck through most stages, but the Hindu Gymkhana home favourite couldn’t find his rhythm to overcome Marzban’s steady resistance.
Capitalizing on multiple missed chances from Kotwani, Amroliwalla cushioned his lead with a 34 break coupled with multiple 20s in the game — needing just 58 to Hitesh’s 233. Relying on his experience, the DPCG cueist and the Billiard League Semi Finalist, showcased fine billiards craftsmanship, sealing his second victory on the PJ Hindu Gymkhana turf.
One giant has fallen — but the mammoths are yet to arrive.
Stay tuned for more thrilling updates from the green baize!
