Nagpur’s Zubair Sheikh has secured his spot in the Top 24 Knockouts at the BSAM presents Malabar Hill Club State Ranking Tournament 2024, emerging as the Group K topper.
Despite starting his campaign with a narrow 2-3 loss against Chetan Rajarwal, Zubair showcased remarkable resilience. He stormed back into contention with a commanding 3-0 victory over former Masters Team Snooker bronze medalist Cherag Ramakrishnan, followed by a solid 3-1 win against Sunil Jain.
Zubair’s flair on the baize was on full display during the match against Jain, where he crafted a sublime break of 48, his personal best in this edition of the state ranking tournament.
Interestingly, Zubair is not the only player to qualify as a group topper despite one loss—Rrahul Sachdev mirrors this feat, making the competition even more thrilling.
With matches progressing rapidly, the Top 16 will soon align for the highly anticipated battles set to begin on the 21st.
