Former Billiards State Champion Mahesh Jagdale triumphed over a spirited Gaurav Jaisinghani in a grueling 5-3 battle at the BSAM presents Malabar Hill Club State Ranking Tournament 2024.
Trailing 2-1 early on, Jagdale looked set to level the scores, but a mishap with the long rest cost him 7 points, giving Jaisinghani a boost as Mahesh clung to a 27-point lead.
Down 3-1, Jagdale shifted gears with a composed and balanced approach, gradually narrowing the deficit to make it 3-3. The pivotal fifth frame, which lasted nearly 45 minutes, saw Jagdale gain control with a skillful 38 break, turning the momentum decisively in his favor.
Reflecting on the match, Jagdale said, “Gaurav played well, but once my counter-safety started landing and my potting came together, I could sense the game shifting. Gaurav missed a few easy chances, which gave me the edge.”
With this victory, Jagdale joins the Top 8, while he sets clash with Pune’s Suraj Rathi. Stay tuned for more intense action with #theSportal on #MHCShowdown!
