In the opening session of the BSAM presents Malabar Hill Club State Ranking Tournament ’24, Kolhapur’s own Piyush Limbad pulled off a remarkable 5-2 victory over former state runner-up Rushabh Jain, marking a high-energy start to the competition.
Piyush, not only a formidable cueist but also a passionate promoter of cue sports in Paschim Maharashtra, leads the renowned Redz Snooker Academy, constantly on the lookout for fresh talent and fostering the region’s next generation of champions. His dedication to the sport shone through as he expertly maneuvered his way past Jain.
Despite some early struggles adjusting to the table’s speed, resulting in missed pots and a level score of 2-2, Limbad’s confidence surged as the frames progressed. Reflecting on his victory, Piyush shared, “I struggled to gauge the table speed initially, missing a few straightforward pots. But as the match progressed, it became a battle of shot-making, and fortunately, I was able to overcome Rushabh this time.”
Noticing Jain slightly off his game, Limbad took full advantage, sealing his win and advancing to the second round, where he now faces Vinay Swaminathan.
