The morning session of the MG Open Break Billiards Tournament 2024 transformed into a riveting scoring marathon, highlighted by the exceptional performance of Billiard Maestro Siddharth Parikh, former World Billiards Bronze Medalist, who demonstrated his exquisite touch with a monumental 217 break.
Facing a resilient opponent in Nikhil Ghadge, Parikh wasted no time in showcasing his renowned craftsmanship in break building. Despite the challenge posed by the altered Baulkline crossing rule, activated every 100-120 followed by every 50 points, the Central Railway Cueist adeptly navigated through it to surge past the 2-ton mark.
However, as Parikh approached his third Baulkline crossing attempt, a slight misjudgment on a thin shot thwarted his chances of creating a favorable angle on 217, leading to a foul with a red pot and bringing an end to his Herculean break, which now stands as the tournament’s highest.
Undeterred, Parikh continued to dazzle, hitting another century with a score of 126, ultimately concluding his duel with Ghadge, who managed a commendable 92 in reply but fell short of matching his surging opponent.
With the momentum building and the balls swiftly moving towards the top table area, the Matunga Gymkhana Billiard Room is poised to witness a flurry of high breaks from the master blasters of Billiards.
Stay tuned for more exhilarating action at the #mgbreakopen.
